I think going to 12:35 would be a step down for Jon Stewart. Maybe CBS will offer him Letterman's spot when he retires.

Isn't conan making like 5 mil. right now. I highly doubt Stewart is making that much on is 30 min show.
Stewart was in the running for the Late Late Show back in '98 or '99 and got beat out by Kilborn, and then had to settle for Kilborn's old job. I doubt he would follow up the Daily Show by going into one of the 12:35 shows that he was passed over for 5-6 years ago, in effect getting Kilborn's sloppy seconds yet again. Although it's possible that he might take over the Kilborn show now and do it on the condition that he gets the Letterman show when Dave retires in the near future. hmmm

I have no clue who will take Conan's spot, they have 5 years to figure it out. If they pick Carson Daly then I hope it tanks

conan is making 5 mill per episode!?!?! wow thats a lot of money

I'm guessing 5 mil a year. 5 mil per episode would be like ~1.8 billion a year. That'd be crazy.

carson daily = automatic tank, no need to worry about that.

i saw jon stewart on leno the other night and he packed more funny stuff into his 5 minute appearance than leno has had in his entire career. i think he'd make a good choice.

It's too bad we have to wait 5 years until conan takes over leno's show.

No joke. Leno is a retard, or at least he is on The Tonight Show. I'll never forget when he had his little stint with the WWF. That was so lame.

Pauley Shore with Carrot Top as the sidekick with Jaleel White (Steve Urkel) as the announcer and Richard Simmons as the band leader.

Tom Green...anyone remember that nightly talk show he had a few summers back (wasn't the standard "Tom Green Show" )? It was Leno/Letterman style and I thought it was pretty good. Too bad it only lasted the summer. But honestly, Jon Stewart would probably do a better job. Also, Andy Dick is a friggin moron.

Some unknown that shows promise. Andy Dick?

Holy Scheit! Might as well have Gilbert Godfrey as the sidekick, so when a disgruntled ex-fan firebombs the place they're both taken out.

Either Andy Richter or Jon Stewart.

I would agree with either of those, but another name that just came to me today while watching a show about him on E.

Dana Carvey, dang that guy is funny.

Dana Carvey is amazing... Not sure if he'd be up for a late night show.. but he'd definatly have my vote

Tom green is funny, but I dont think he is quite the... NBC type...

I think Dana Carvey would be great too. That guy is funny.
Jon Stewart had a late-night style show before The Daily Show. It wasn't good. It might not have been his fault though.

janeane garofolo?

I've never heard one funny thing come out of her mouth.

Jay was a real good standup comic way back when. He was a good replacement for Carson as his style was similar to Carson's, but neither he nor Carson are/were as edgy as Conan is. I really wonder what will happen when Conan takes over the Tonight Show, I think he'll lose much of his edge, it being an earlier timeslot and all.

As for who replaces Conan:

Carson Daly: No frickin way! I only watch his show when a good guest is on, even then Carson is a mediocre interviewer most of the time and if he has a politician(or a celebrity expressing a disagreeable political point to Carson) on that he disagrees with Carson gets all fuddled up. I wish he'd quit trying his opening "Jokes", he just can't tell a joke if his life depended on it.

John Stewart: He'd be great and I'd love to see him take over, but I think he's too big for that time slot. The Late Show is more of a training ground for up and coming types, not established talents.

Andy Richter: I think he'd be good, but I don't see it happening. I just wonder if he could bring his own uniqueness to the show or whether all his ideas have and are already been/being used. I think it is imperitave that whomever takes over has to be edgy and the only way to be edgy is to come with new ideas.

Tom Green: He did some hilarious things on his show, but half the time he goes over the edge. He's like a bad car accident, you feel compelled to look, but often what you see is revolting.

Jimmy Kimmel, Craig Kilborn: Wannabes. Watched them both and though they are both ok talk show hosts, I find them generally dull and rather run of the mill in style. Kind of reminds me of the early 90's when Late Night Talk Shows were being handed out to everybody, many were good, but most were clones of each other(Arsenio was really the only one back then that brouht something fresh and even he couldn't survive). Boring.

Letterman and Conan were both nobodies that turned out great and very envelope pushing(Letterman was the man back in the '80's just like Conan is today). I suspect the person who takes over Conan's spot will be similar. I'm not really sure if I want this to happen as Conan will have to tone things down. OTOH, by that time he probably will have lost much of his edginess like Letterman did before him.
