They have occasional good deals but the shipping is outrageous plus I get charged tax being in Florida. Most other retailers are selling combos based on old technology or their prices suck. New Egg only sells CPUs or Motherboards, but not as combos...

MWave Online Store

Mwave offers MB/CPU combos and MB/CPU/RAM combos. For $9 extra, they will install your CPU, your heatsink/fan with thermal grease, and your RAM and pretest it for you. Great line-up of products, very good pricing, reasonable shipping, and super customer service.

They might be a couple of dollars more than ZipZoomFly or NewEgg on some things, but if you have to RMA something they're great to work with. The $9 for assembly and testing is well worth it, too. I've bought several motherboard combos from them this way and never had an issue after they've tested it.

Don't they only offer a 30 day DOA warranty? IIRC after 30 days, manufacturers warranty only. For that matter, Newegg now says "manufacturers warranty only" on quite a few items. Let's see... Monarch offers standard 60 (or 90, forget) day warranty. Directron is a full year.

Pricing-wise, Mwave discounts on combos. Monarch doesn't discount, but offers free pre-testing on bundles.

Best bet if you aren't overclocking are the Fry's deals (sometimes available at Outpost). Recently they have had Duron 1.6GHz with KT333 motherboard for $39. They also had P4 3.0E with motherboard for $169. Basically outrageously cheap... like getting Pricewatch pricing on CPU and getting a free disposable motherboard.

Not the cheapest but how about mobo, cpu & mem bundles tested with 3 yr warranty. Bought 2 bare bones systems from them for work (I wasn't paying for it).

The Far Cry and HL2 are only with select combos. I am looking for an Athlon XP combo and Monarch donesn't have any... I'd go with a SemprOn but I wouldn't like being stuck at 333FSB.

ZZF sell combos, but they really aren't combos. They're just the two items sold tegether. Once I noticed the "combo" was more expensive. It is usually only like a 2.00 difference anyway.

MWave discounts their combos. MWave has Athlon XP combos. Mwave has free software and music subscriptions with combos. MWave lets you pick between retail and OEM processors and heatsinks/fans for your combos. MWave will install your CPU and/or RAM and test your combos. MWave has great customer service. MWave has good prices and reasonable shipping rates.

Sorry if I was too ambiguous before:

Mwave: ABit KV7 + AMD Athlon XP 3000+ OEM + MWave copperplate fan:$180 + S&H:$12.99 Total: $192.76

Tiger Direct: ABit KV7 + AMD Athlon XP 2900+ OEM?:$119.99 + Ultra socketA Copper Core fan:$14.99 + S+H:$14.32 + TAX:$13.25 Total: $162.55

The Tiger Direct deal seems to be the better of the 2 even after tax and the S&H. I was hoping there would be similar offers around without the outrageously high S&H (I live in the same area as Tiger Direct, shipping should be at most $10) and no tax. With the tax taken off and the shipping more reasonable, I was hoping this setup I could get near $145 instead of the $192 at Mwave. Is that the best they got?

MWave isn't the cheapest online reseller. I don't know if it would be worth the trouble to call and ask them to price match or not.
