Who says "Cali" (as in California)?

The SoCal kids say "Frisco" or "San Fran" instead of "The City" or "SF." They also look down upon us NorCal kids for saying "hella." But you'll never hear anyone from CA say "Cali" or at least that's my experience.

I'm in Asia right now for vacation and we have a few family friends here. They're friends who went to international high school here (grew up in CA but went back sometime before HS) and then later went off to college somewhere in the US. But I suppose somewhere in their maturation in their high school years, they learned to say "Cali" and while they grew up with me before HS, I find it ridiculously annoying that they call our state that.

So do other foreigners or out-of-state people call California Cali?

Just a quick rant.

All you Cali people are hella ridic'.
419 fo life son!

As an aside, I hate people who say Chi-town.
I also hate when people say T-town (Toledo).
Also, I hate referring to a city by the area code.

We use hella in So Cal a lot, I should say many of us do. I don't think a day goes by where I don't use the word hella at least once or twice. And most of my friends call it Cali, I know I do.

The people that say things like "Cali" and "hella" are the same people that say things like "H-Town" for Houston. This form of communication denotes their status as hoodlums and ne'er do wells.

I people that say "Oh-See" instead of Orange County.

That's me. But then again I'm not from socal. I've heard some people say "The OC" when telling others where they're from... but that might just be an easier way to get people to understand (but then again I wouildn't say Cali just to get people to understand where I'm from)....

I say it because it's easier. Never lived there but been there a few times.

Is this the same thing as people in Jersey getting pissed about calling it Jersey?

i give my kids a hard time if they use hella. i also dont usually call it cali, unless im singing that song. i do use mad tho, people often give me strange looks. i also say dude too much. a couple years ago i tried to revive bitchin, radical and groovy but it didnt work.

You people all saying h-town, or t-town. Must realize that only locals would know wtf your talking about.

I would never assume t-town was Toledo (some small shit city in ohio lol) I know people call t-town tampa, but only because im from tampa and its in a couple rap songs.

I am also from ohio so i can tall toledo a shit town 🙂

Cali makes sense why not use it

??

I lived in 'Jersey for more than 25 years and never cared if someone called it 'Jersey. I wasn't aware that New Jersians didn't appreciate the abbreviation.
