have a question

near a ranch owned by some of my extended family in the black hills there are some indian neighbors. since the area is so big you never see their propery or them but you can hear them when they dance. my question is that there seems to be no reservations in the black hills

do non reservation private property of native americans have any special rights that they might otherwise have on the reservation

There are several reservations in South Dakota...

(sorry...bad link)
You have to remember, not all natives live on the res...and they're free to pow-wow anywhere they want.

Otherwise, private property that is NOT on the res is just private property.

like half the state

have you been on pine ridge?

would the main roads be safe for non natives?

Yes, I've been on Pine Ridge and a couple of the other reservations. I have kin there.

Main roads? Where? On the res? Safe? During the daytime...at night? Maybe...maybe not. No way to know what the local youth might be up to at the time...shit happens.

All the roads on this map SHOULD be safe (or as safe as any US roadway) at any time of day or night:

(dammit...bad links tonight)

There are, of course, much smaller roads within the reservation that might not be as well maintained...or patrolled by the reservation police...trouble is rare...but not unheard of...keep in mind, poverty is rampant on the reservations...poverty and desperation often fuel crime.

Ya pays yer money, ya takes yer chances.

basically on any time with sunlight left

like driving back from the black hills and going through the badlands

figured it might be safe if you stick to the highways on the reservation and only stop at gas stations and other attractions

well i figured it would be most of who might sit on their porch and swear at the white man and do nothing but drink and smoke meth

so i figured a range of ages

Hell...anything is possible, but in my experience, it's the youth who cause most of the problems in any group of people...

how do those elected elders work out for you guys?

this would likely depend on the particular tribe but it seems to me like some tribes the elders are as bad as any of the indians if not some of the worst

not in general riff raff but as far as corruption and character

Dolph Lundgren as Flash Gordon.

He never played that role of course, but I can vividly imagine his attempts at the character, and the perfect mix of cheese, physique and humor, while still saving the world.
