Who remembers the name of this movie?

It came out in the 80's/90's, starring Tom Cruise. It was something to the effect of a unicorn breaking its horn, and it was dying.

In addition to this acid trip plot, there was a little elvish kid with pointed ears and teeth who wore a loin cloth. Ringing any bells?
