Who remembers getting fed for 5 dollars? for 4 people

Define "fed". I remember when four adults could get sufficiently fed, but not stuffed at McDonalds for $5. I could cook a $5 meal today for 4 people. It wouldn't be luxurious, but it would taste good enough.

I went to McDonalds mostly, and the cheapest I remember is 20¢ hamburgers. 25¢ if you wanted cheese. Dunno what the other stuff cost. Only the burgers stuck with me. For a point of reference, 25¢ 1975 = $1.10 today.

wait what? how dis this turn from a "getting fed for cheap" to "moms passing"?

if serious, my prayers are with you and your family.

You can still feed 4 people for 5 dollars. Black beans and rice with some pieces of pork rind and onions and pumpkin thrown in.

Seems like yesterday.

I go to Chipotle and get a burrito bowl for ~$7 or so and it lasts 2 meals.

Don't eat like a fatass.
Don't eat more than you need. The goal of a meal is not feel full, but to simply suppress hunger.
Protein is ideal for addressing hunger.

It's not rocket science. You don't need a shitty $20 steak to eat. Between the wife and I, we grab a 1lb fresh salmon for $10 at the grocery store and split it between us with some beans/rice or veggie a bunch of times.\

Anyone that tells you that there isn't such a thing as a $5 meal is someone on EBT/Foodstamps that thinks a meal is a Ribeye and potatoes every night.

$5 to feed a family of four? What was that - a pound of spaghetti, some canned tomato sauce, a head of iceberg lettuce, a tomato, a cucumber and some oil and vinegar? Circa 1965?

When I was a kid? $0.25 hamburgers at McDonald's. When my mom was teaching music lessons, my dad would take me and my brother and drop like $4.
