A great quote I've heard is "A smart man learns from his mistakes; A wise man learns from the mistakes of others"

But there seems to be some variation to it (like I've seen "A wise man learns from his mistakes; a wiser man...") and as well unsure who the Author is.

I did a little Googling but didn't find any concrete reference...What is the CORRECT quote and who is the Author? Anyone know for certain?
