Who played a RPG in the 80's called Traveller?

I played RPG's then (still do.. is that wrong?) but I don't remember that one... what was it about?

One of my old fav's from then was Tales of the Floating Vagabond... classic.

Is that the one that was completely text based??

Like - You are standing in a woods, with a path going to your right....

and you would type - "walk forward" ??

We would always try to get it to do stupid crap like climb tree and start car and try to confuse the computer - but it would always give the same stupid reply back and the game became boring quickly.... I don't think we ever figured out the true purpose to the game.

It became 'MegaTraveller 3000', which was no where near as good. The original was great, although you almost had to have a Masters in Mathmatics or Physics to play the dumb thing.

Now, Star Frontiers, Boot Hill, Gamma World, Top Secret...(and of course, the Godlike Dungeons and Dragons)... There were some fine games.

Yeah, I'm a geek, so what? 😎
