Who play :

I love putting an enemy full of cavalry and have them sending crashing down spectacuarly into my rows and rows of pikes in RTW, since the AI was joyfully dumb. M2TW AI is not that foolish though...Any "fixes"

Great game with very deep combat system. I played a few campaigns before reformating. Havent reinstalled, may do that later today.

I was playing it last night, trying to beat the game as Sicily. Probably one of the most difficult factions to play, after the Turks IMO.

I have it,though IMHO Rome: Total War is better because:

You don't have to deal with cities and castles and the kinds of troops they can recruit.
Loyalty issues.
RTW also is more balanced.
Better Variety of Units.

IMHO of course, though there are things from Medieval 2 that i wish were in Rome.

Empire: Total War comes out this year, doesn't it?

Last I knew it was scheduled for a late 08 release. Hoping it is another stellar title.

I play M2TW. I like the Lands To Conquer & The Long Road mod. In that order. The vanilla game pales in comparison to these two mods. Whats really sad about Creative Assembly is that they put out such a buggy game and its the modders that often get fixes in before the company that makes it. They also get a better game balance going too. Its great we have modders that do this but its a sad testimony to CA. I'm not trying to be mean but CA has a long history of putting out sequel after sequel with the same problems and bugs and I'm getting a little tired of them doing this. Many of them are very obvious too but I guess getting the game out is more important than getting it out with fewer bugs and better game balance. I doubt their next game will be any better in this regard if one was to go by their past history.

Total War mods always have so many problems with installation though, especially when the game was purchased through Steam.

I love Medieval II, I actually like it better than Rome. I played as one of the Middle Eastern nations once... it was very difficult

I've gone through M2TW (original game) about 3 and a half times; the 'half' was interrupted when I got the expansion. I went through the expansion once, which essentially equates to 4 go throughs. Stopped after finishing the last Kingdoms campaign cause it's like a crack addiction.

Anyways, about AI and acavalry, ya, they are a bit dumb. I thought up the idea of pure-cavalry armies my 2nd or 3rd run through, and they are amazing cause of the idiocy of enemy AI. I wish they would "fix" them so that they don't just produce mass armies of militias.

Amazingly enough I've never had a problem downloading a M2TW or a RTW mod. I dont use STEAM though. Thats probably where the problem lies.

Edit: This is in reply to Bat's post. Sorry, i forgot to use the quote function.
