i just went to lunch with a guy who ordered a burger and said "make it as rare as possible" :Q

i thought that was dangerous?

It is, but so is driving drunk, without a seatbelt, etc... yet people do it everyday as well.

Its not as "dangerous" if you grind your own meat though.

Depends on where you order from, what type of meat they are using, and how they handle it.

More people die from bacteria in organic vegetables than meat.

Rare is tasty. People are way to freakishly worried about undercooked meat.

Carpaccio for lunch!

That's disgusting. I understand people wanna taste the beef, but when there's no chew in the meat, nasty! I ask for medium.

There's a state law here against restaurants serving Rare hamburger unless they grind it themselves.

Something to do with truckers.

Hamburgers should never be well-done.*

Hamburgers should never be ordered any way BUT well-done at a restaurant.

You should never order a hamburger at a restaurant

*Disclaimer: Places that give you no choice (e.g. McDonalds, Burger King) don't really serve hamburgers, so they're ok.

Seems like a reasonable request. I usually order medium-rare on burgers, but they usually wont go below medium.

Steak on the other hand, rare rare rare. I want my steak to be purple!

I like all my meat very well done, from hamburgers to steaks. My favorite pit beef is the burnt ends. Not only is it tasty, they sell them super cheap, or give them away.

That sounds like a bad idea for hamburger meat. I do my steaks medium-rare but even given a choice on hamburgers I typically do medium. Except for one time in NYC I went to a place and had a Kobe beef burger and it was cooked medium-rare.
