That is the defense he'll have to take.
Its gonna be tough to prove and anti-vilgilante laws are clear, even rape isn't a crime punishable by death
He still can't commit murder, its up to the justice system to weigh and measure him.
Its why he's gonna be charged, and you can bet the court of public opinion is gonna forgive him but I think State prosecutors are gonna work just as hard against him because you let one vigilante crime slide by it will open the doors for more. So they're gonna try and win this one.
Set off or not he doesn't have the right to do what he did.
Its what we pay policemen for. I read it, said I understood he was angry, but that aint good enough.

He could have said he chased after them to get their plate information but they started shooting. He was forced to ram the car in order to protect himself and the guy got run over as a result.

There are lots of ways to spin it.

all he has to do is say he was following them to get a license tag, see where they went so that he could forward that info to the authorities, etc... They started shooting at him, he ducked, they abandoned the vehicle while he was still ducking, and he ran over the kid. case closed. I'm sure the parents of the kid who was killed will sue for a wrongful death or some such crap, but such is the way of greed.

he will get off. no way a jury will unanimously send him to jail over this. there's more than reasonable doubt.

that said....i wish he'd killed all 4 of those bastards

Lawyers seldem let it end that simple.
they will ask 'Why would you chase ARMED fellons? didn't you fear for your life? wouldn't it have been smarter to let the police handle it?

I have to agree with desy you can't go after the villains when you're no longer in danger, the best solution is to call the police.

why did they have to mention an SUV ? He coulda done that in a Corolla and it still woulda hurt.

i hope he gets off and good riddance to the scumbag.

edit:

Gibson and a 15-year-old partner were arrested and charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon. The two may be charged with felony homicide because of their accomplice's death, Medina said.

so his fellow robbers are going to be charged for their friend's death? 😕

If you commit a felony, you are responisble for the crimes that are directly related for it. So, if you and a friend commit armed robbery, and he shots the guy, you can be charged with murder, even though you never touched the gun.

Fvck the police!
911 is a joke in my town!

I might as well have Reno 911 as the cops in my city...
worthless absolutly worthless...
they woulda never caught these punks... they woudla sent a car over to take a freaking report instead of chasing them..
OR
they woulda sent cars.. but it would take over 45 mins for them to get there...
by then the trail is nice and cold..
I swear Houston PD are the most corrupt incompetant asshats I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with..

The remaining suspects ditched the car and fled, police said. One of them, Kyle Gibson, 19, of Trenton, reported the car stolen to hide his involvement, said Detective Sgt. Pedro Medina. Ironically, the false report helped police make the arrest.

CVSiN
Now thats something I can agree with 🙂
If your in danger and can defend yourself by all means do so.
All the police are good for is making sure your body makes it to the morg when it comes to violent crime!

I'm not a hero," O'Neal, a videographer, told The Post. "I'm just protecting my family. Let's be realistic. Wouldn't you do the same? Unfortunately, it had a real ugly twist."

NO SH1T.

he is a VIGILANTE, he is definitely not a hero.

tough to prove? it's a criminal case, burden of proof is on the state, if there is reasonable doubt then he is acquited.

this guy was smart, taking the whole "i was fearful for my daughters" approach, establishing a self-defense angle from the get-go.

O'Neal, a single father, said he wasn't worried so much about the money and credit cards. He said he was scared the robbers would return and make good on their promise to hurt his precious daughters.

I don't know if anything's going to happen to the father, but one thing I would bet money on: the dead kid's parents will be screaming for "justice" because of the "cold-blooded" killing of their beloved son, who was "really a good kid. He just fell in with the wrong crowd."

This is like that story about the bank manager running over the bank robbers with his hummer. Although in that story he ran over the robbers' car with them in it.

Awesome .

Vigilante my ass. Spiderman was a vigilante. That guy was protecting his family. If you read the article, it states that those dickwads had been targeting him for muggings, so it wasn't just a one time thing. They threatened to rape his daughters... I'm sorry, but that's a threat that DOES NOT LEAVE once the criminals drive away.

He won't and shouldn't be convicted.

Would that be considered Sport or utility? 😀

Both, IMO! 😀

It's a sport to run these asshats down, plus it was used for a utility...to run these asshats down.
