Many post offices have the lobby (where the PO boxes are) open 24x7, but by no means all of them.

There are 24 hour post offices. In Long Island LIE exit 41, the hicksville.. its 24 hour service last time i was there.. unless it got changed. The one in the city.. near penn station also.

Learn it when my old roomate had to dispute a parking ticket and had till midnight to post mark it.. drove into the city and got it done... was pretty funny

We use CoinStar, we roll our quarters and dimes and take them to the bank, but we let the CoinStar machine count the nickels and pennies because it is cheaper to do that than waste our time on rolling those...

Think about how long it would take you to count and roll 10,000 pennies into 200 rolls, label them (my bank requires name and acct number on rolls) and then have them count them at the bank... now think about dumping them into the CoinStar machine and only paying $9... it is a no brainer to me.

I guess we don't have Commerce down here in FL. I've never heard of them.

Our banks all get bought and sold on a monthly basis. I think everything that isn't a CU now (there's Suncoast Schools, GTE and MacDill) is a Bank Of America in Tampa.

commerce banks are mostly in the tri state area. they have machines called penny arcades, similiar to coinstar but no fees. they let u take a guess on how much your coins add up to. if u guess it within i think $2.00, you get a gift. i counted mine before i went, ended up with a free commerce piggy bank. lol

chevy chase bank in MD apparently allows you to use their machines for free.. even if you don't have an account. i need to find time to get to one.. I have probably $150-$200 in coins i need to convert.

My girlfriend rolls her own.....so I give her mine and let her roll them too. It saves the 9% and gives me more time to play BF2.

Coinstar is a ripoff, not only do they charge you 9%, but if you throw in 100 pennies, the machine will "loose track" of a bunch of them too and mabye only report that you put in 89 of them.

Since I dont have direct deposit anymore, I deposit 4-5$ in change every week with my paycheck and that works great for me

Banks only take rolled coinage (save for commerce that has that coin machine). When i used to live in nevada i would just take my silver coinage to the cash cage at a casino. But now i use coinstar. Youre trick doesnt work here. I recently bought stamps and once i hit the max for their selections it told me to make my selection. No option for more money to be added.

my wife still is a change freak. I will have already paid and dumped the change in a jar by the time she has coins out.

When I did used to use change to pay, I kept it in my pocket ready...a few quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies. Now I have too many gadgets in my pockets to bother with change for the most part.

They should design purses with coin slots inside.

Rolling 15 penny rolls would cut into my Anandtech time. And then I'd STILL have to take them to the bank to deposit them. Pumping coins into a stamp machine took less than 5 minutes.

they only have one true "branch"
in this branch, they have an outer lobby area that is open 24/7, with a bunch of atms... and they have two coinstar machines that are free to use, and print out vouchers that are only valid if deposited into your becu account.

Most post office vending machines are open 24 hours. They're out in the area with the PO boxes.
