My Creative GeForce 2 MX card looks pretty good on my Optiquest Q71 at 1024x768 at 85hz, but once I go higher than that it starts to look pretty crap, but that might also be the moniter since the refresh rate drops down to 60hz after you leave 1024x768. But comparing the GeForce 2MX to the G200 a friend has the GeForce isnt quite as clear at 1024x768...but its nothing too noticeable

Nort has a point, you really can't ask ppl who only use GF's how the 2D, any zealot, cynical or average person can tell you that the 2D on a GF is nice for such and such brand(We all know all the cards are based on reference design and use low quality RFi filters. 3 out of 4 GF look the same.), But if they ever seen an ATi Radeon or V5 or the mother of them all the G400MAX then you would be hard pressed to get an honest answer from the same ppl who have GF.

Banding? Banding? Am I missing something? I've got a CL GF2 GTS, and haven't noticed anything yet....but then again it could be something I don't notice until I look for it (like those 2 wires on some monitors!!)
Truth be told, my old G200 looked much better in 2D than the GF2, noticed a difference immediately when I switched the card in 🙁

im going to be buying probably a geforce2mx soon. i find it very suprising that some of the people that responded who use geforce2s say they are using only 1024x768x32! even my current 8mb AGP matrox G200 millenium can go better than that (and it is a very sh!tty card🙂).

gorg?

people don't use higher res's in 2d mainly because 1) their monitor doesn't support it; and 2) theri monitor supports it but it looks too small)

My own Sparkle GF2MX is good at 1024x768 ,I use it at 1152x864 in 32bit@100hz there is slight loss in detail which makes it little blurry,my LG 915FT flatron shows it up,I guess I will be upgrading to a Elsa GF3 soon.

Why does everyonce keep commenting on 1024 resolution as being good?? The problem is only effected when the resolution is @1600x to 2048x. This where alot of PS pros will occupy alot of real estate on there monitor and exact kind of 2D image quality that needs to be sharp.
