who makes the best paint ball gun for beginners?

Tippman of course. The Pro Carbine, or the 98 Custom are always good.

The 98 Custom can be easily modified once you get good.

You can find new Model 98s for less than $150. Spyders go for about the same.

Heck yea, for a first gun...Tippman is the way to go. Theres a reason most fields use them as the rentals, those suckers are tanks. And as others said, you can get better barrels and stuff for cheap when you get better.

Spyder. Spefically the Xtra. Best semi-auto for it's price IMO. Very easily upgradable :beer:

Your beginning "marker" should be the one you play around and tinker with. Then you move onto the better stuff, maybe even Electronic Markers

NOTE
Do NOT, I repeat, NOT, get a marker unless you're going to a field VERY often. My rule of thumb for beginners is to go a few times using rental equipment, and if you're absolutely sure you will be somewhat dedicated to this, then get a marker.

And the first piece of equipment you should be getting is a good goggle.

Remington makes the best paintball guns. They have one called the 870 that just rules. You can buy the paint shells at Wal Mart.

The 98C wont break on you, and it performs extremely well for being a midrange gun.

I've been playing for over 2 years and I'm still using it.

Like some have said, buy a good face mask...one with a thermal lens.
