that saying has been around eversince the beginning of the battle between canon and nikon. Of course this applies to SLRs and DSLRs only. Hardcore professionals have modified nikon lenses just to fit canon bodies. But i think L-series canon lenses are just fine.
Point and shoot will be Canon - nobody else has a better image processor (digic II) and a package that others may fit into a small point and shoot camera. If you guys think sony has great p&s cameras - look at the canon's sd line of cameras.
IMO Sony is just straight up junk; the quality of the image is just horrible. I am sorry to offend any sony p&s owners but i believe there is a lot of you on this forum.
The only reason why some people don't like Canon is becasue of the vivid colorness it provides - its just too much for their eyes =P.
yup sony has horrible low lighting even with those "premium" Carl Zeiss lenses. my grandparents took 1 to vegas and new york(some 5mp, $400 P&S) and most of the indoor shots are filled with unbelievable noise. horrible cameras.
