Who makes good SCSI CD-R/CD-RW these days?

My Plextor 8-20R is getting a bit long in the tooth these days. Normally, I would only be looking at Plextor for an upgrade. However, it looks like Plextor is an IDE shop now. Too bad. They were the best in SCSI at one time. Now, the only SCSI drives they have are all out modeled. Heck, the Ultraplex Wide 40 I have had for 3 years is STILL the best CD player they have! Tell me that's not sad.

Anyway, seeing as Plextor is pretty much out of the picture with SCSI CD-Rs, who would be a good company to look at? Needless to say, IDE is NOT an option of me, burn-proof or not. Suggestions?

Thanks!

I think that YAMAHA still makes SCSI, I have one of the 8x never had a problem with it. but I want to get something faster, and not sure if I want to stick with SCSI or go to IDE.

Yamaha does still make scsi cdrw and they are awesome. My 8/4/24 now 3+years old holds its own coupled with an IBM 75gxp. I would reccomend to anyone.

Careful with Yamaha, they are using Ricoh drives, (At least for ATA, have to assume the same for SCSI) and the failure rate has more than doubled as of late.

I use an old Teac 8x24, would like to get a faster one too...

The current models available are as follows:

Plextor:
PlexWriter 12/10/32S internal and external Ultra SCSI
Yamaha:
CRW2200SZ (20/10/40) "Dual Interface" internal drive
CRW2200SZX (20/10/40) external Ultra SCSI
CRW2100SZ (16/10/40) internal Ultra SCSI
CRW2100SZX (16/10/40) external Ultra SCSI
Sanyo:
CRD-BP5 (24/10/40) internal Ultra SCSI
CRD-BP4 (16/10/40) internal Ultra SCSI

I have a Plextor 12/10/32S. I would like to know if anybody has a Sanyo BP5 and their opinion of the drive. I would be quite reluctant to choose a Yamaha drive, especially the "Dual Interface" one.
