I've had like 3 sets of luggage fall apart on me, from cheap all the way up to $100 a bag. Pretty frustrated...any recommendations for good, durable luggage? When I travel I typically take heavy hardware like a computer tower with me, so I want something very durable.

Victorinox makes luggage funnily enough, i've had it for years now and the things still look like they're new. I've seriously put them through hell. The only problem is that they're really expensive, but its totally worth it IMO

$100 is pretty cheap for good luggage unfortunately. You're not likely to find much with a long lifetime in that range. I've literally seen bags explode coming off the carousel at airports. It's usually because only the four corners are reinforced. A nice piece of luggage will be reinforced everywhere, including the front.

IMO, Victorinox makes the best available luggage in its price range. Tumi is excellent as well, but far too expensive, imo. Samsonite has some nice options in the same space as Victorinox as well.

Not sure who makes costco's luggage, but it feels pretty durable. It doesn't have any marked wear after several flights for me.

100k miles, god knows how many pounds (I've had trouble closing the overhead bins, probably not very safe...), numerous rides down the jetway chute to ride in the cargo hold when the plane is full. Showing it's age (some of the reinforcements on the edges look like they've been sandpapered) but still going strong. I think I paid $150 for this carryon at a factory outlet store. All my hard suitcases are samsonite too.

Baggage handlers have beaten the hell out of mine and it's at least 30 years old.

I've seen some newer hard cases that look impressive, but I'm sure they cost more than Samsonite.

Yup, mine is about 20 years old as well, has a few scrapes on the surface but it's still good as ever...no broken wheels either...solid!

What brands?? I'm curious.

No idea, just stuff I bought locally. The last stuff seemed fairly heavy-duty, I guess not!

The Samsonite Graviton Spinner series looks awesome:

Wicked expensive though. But if it will really last 20 years...

I have a couple Atlantic bags (a carry on and a wheeled garment bag) and have found them to be extremely durable and attractive.
