Who loves Chinese Food?

For the majority of my life, I never ate chinese food. And the chinese food I would eat was either Uncle Ben's rice, some veggies and beef, and soy sauce that my mom would throw together or some frozen eggrolls.

Once I started college, I started going to Chinese restaurants, mostly those like 5-8 dollar buffets where you have like a million choices, and now that I'm out of college, I still find myself eating Chinese at least once a week, and usually twice. Isn't it like the best stuff out there? Sure there's better foods, but I don't think you can find a mix of price, quality, and variety that you can get with Chinese food. Today I had orange chicken, some red beef strip thingies, and lo mein noodles, all for 6 bucks, and this was like 2 pounds of food. (most of it is still in teh fridge).

Who else loves this stuff? I know i'm not alone because in the last 10 years, my town went from having 2 chinese restaurants to having like 15 of em!

I like americanized chinese food you can get at buffets and stuff like that. For some reason I don't think all that many people in china are eating sweet and sour chicken with red gooey sweet sauce with pineapple and marachino (spelling) cherries in it. 🙂

That said, I don't think I've ever had real authentic chinese food so I can't comment whether I'd like it or not.

where ya from dawg? If you lived near me....i would take you to the dirtiest chinese places around....funnny thing is tho they are best tasting tho!

ME!!! Chinese food f#$*ing rules. Now you need to move on to sushi, the food of the gods.

PS: Red beef strip thingies = Peking Ribs

Only at a restaurant with Asians in it. Especially one with multi-generation family at the same table. It's like a rating system. 😉

hehe yes, I mean Americanized Chinese Food! hehe in real China, they eat a lot of insects, and I'm sure there's a fair share of dogs, cats, and rats.

Wanna know what's really horrible? During the great famine in the late 1800's in China, they actually butchered newborn babies and young children and ate them. I learned that reading a book about Albert Fish. IMO Albert Fish is the most disrespected serial killer of all time. That guy has never gotten his props, while lightweights like Dahmer and Ramirez get all this pub.

Someday, Hollywood will make a movie about Fish, and I will be first in line!

I own one, what can I say?

The one thing that is weird is how names change wherever you go, and so do the recipies. For example Dumplings = Peking Ravioli in Boston, potstickers in NYC, etc, etc. But there's nothin I can really do...

z28: in places like my town, there are no "real" chinese restaurants. They're either buffets or hole in the wall takeout places, so you can't really gauge how well it is by azn people. Only in big cities like NYC, Boston, SF, or in my case, Orlando or Miami.

He he he......... if you like Chinese food come to my home town, Vancouver Canada....... best authentic Chinese food on the west coast (I have not been to the east coast in a long time). But if you really want some great Chinese food nothing beats the source, Hong Kong.......... good and fresh.

Cheers,
Aquaman

chinese food rules... and iv had plenty of authetic chinese food, it REALLY depends on the region, china is a big place, they dont all eat alike, just like we dont.... they have a ll the deep fried gooey sauces there too

Iron Chef Chinese Chen Kenichi. Chinese food rules, it covers all the bases and is truly artistic, not boring old yellow meals that many a cafeteria has to offer.

Hell yes. I live on the stuff.

Also, growing up, my best friend's mom made food for us all the time*
mmmmmmmmmmmmmm good stuff!!!

*she's chinese so it was quite authentic.

Had "real" Chinese food in Hong Kong, it was pretty good, nothing like what we get here, which I also enjoy. People tell me all the time that if I ate any more Chinese food, I'd turn into a Chinese! 😀
