Who knew that you could still buy a new Delorean?

I saw a program about this company on tv the other night. Apparently when DMC went bankrupt, another company bought their huge stockpile of Delorean parts. Now this company will build you a new Delorean if you have the cash (only the frame is used, but it is completely refurbished). Its a little steep, but I would love to have one of these...

Cue BttF comments...

Not too bad, but only really for the coolness of having a Delorean.

True... I'm not a car person, but my understanding is that they were never a very good car in terms of power, handling, etc.

But they look really really cool.

Why? It's kind of fugly (dated looking) and there are tons of cheaper cars that will smoke the hell out of it in performance.

1. It's unique.
2. Back to the Future nostalgia

Yeah, but can they travel back in time? I think not.

Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0126'

Include file not found

/dmcstore/byodBuy.asp, line 1

The include file 'file:///mktg2/dmc-website/dmcstore/incDBConnect.asp' was not found.

apparently they aren't too serious about buyers. Got that when I clicked "Add to cart"

I used to be huge into Deloreans. DMC of Houston even offers a 200hp upgrade if you want (stock is a 130hp V6, rear-mounted). However, they are very small cars, plus they don't have many safety features (no airbags for one). The Delorean Mailing List is a great place to discuss and learn about them:

Also check out Tamir's site:

I love the car, but if you flip it, how do you get out? Without going into the past that is, time travel dosen't work upside down.

I'm sure given a long enough frozen lake and rocket boosters, you could get it up to 88 mph on its roof.

Way to rot the tires off a good thread as it got rolling... we're going to need train tracks now
