It seems most of you like Keaton which is cool because I like him as well and if he were built a little more muscular I would have voted for him as well. After all, you have to be pretty strong to hang onto a cable wire while holding a damsel in distress. ;)

Adam West's Batman was a goofy comedy (I heard somewhere it was a spoof of the action genre, but I never really researched that), whereas the newer movies are more serious.
Yeah, I also think that the last movie (Clooney) is the closest one to being like the original. In that one Batman isn't dark as he was in the others.

That and Kim Basinger was really hot in that movie (I haven't seen her recently, so I don't know if she still is).
She looked pretty good in L.A Confidential although she is getting on a bit now.

and some great lines for Nicholson ("This town needs an enema!", "Gentlemen, let's expand our minds..", etc..)
And don't forget "never rub another man's rhubarb". :D

Does anyone know if a fifth (modern) Batman movie is being planned? Pairing up Keaton and Burton again might be just the ticket needed.

Well Batman(1989) was great, dark and real cool. Batman returns was still dark but it seemed to tend towards comedy, well at least not a serious as the first film. The other two are just goofy morons running around in stupid looking vehicles and suits fighting mronic villains with no actual purpose.

Michael Keaton is 51 years old now. The only Bruce Wayne he could possibly play now would be the one from the graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns. Which would be pretty cool, considering TDKR is probably one of the best Batman stories I've ever read (not that i've really read that many.....).

This isn't really fair considering we're talking about two different generations of Batman, but Keaton had just the right levels of serious, silly, and brooding.

I guess he also had the unfair advantage of Tim Burton's direction as well...

Also, from what I understand, there will be a 5th Batman.

There's going to be Batman vs. Superman movie. Neither role has been cast yet

Kevin Conroy. Seriously.

Good thinking, but he's not an actor, he just has the best voice for it.

And the 5th Batman is going to be called "Batman: Year One" along with Batman vs. Superman.

Damn...you beat me to it. But christ, I can't wait for Year One. With Darren Aronofsky, you can almost be sure it's going to be the best Batman movie adaptation because it'll stay true to the dark elements of Batman without any compromise.

By the way, I also think Keaton was the best of the recent Batmans, but that's only because of the dark nature of Batman/Batman Returns...who knows, maybe Clooney/Kilmer could have done just as well if they were casted for those two movies.
