that's a misleading statement imo. i would agree if you quantify that by stating the athlon "fx", but comparing an a64 3200+ and p4 3.2c, the athlon has but a slight advantage in gaming, and a slight to moderate disadvantage in "coding".
comparing the fx-51 to a p4ee is a no brainer however, as the fx51 is 10-15% faster in say, 3dm2003 (yes, not a quantative comaprison, but just a general example), and a helluva alot less expensive the the
exremely overpriced p4ee. i have some friends that have the intel EE chip, and i can't believe they wasted that kind of money on it heh... but that's just me
overall i do think the a64's provide better price/performance, but at any rate, you can find lots of great info on this subject in the "cpu" forums...
