Who is/the Your Favorite/Greatest Guitarist?

While all those guys are great..and most of them guitar gods in one way or another.

My vote: Stephen Carpenter - Deftones. His songs just kick major butt. From soft to hard..he can play it all. He writes great music
 
For the greatest, I couldn't pick one, but probably divide it up by instrument:

Electric - Jimi Hendrix
Nylon string acoustic - Andres Segovia
Steel string acoustic - Chet Atkins

For favorite, I couldn't pick one either 🙂 I like guitarists that come up with interesting melodies rather than possessing amazing skill, like Johnny Marr (The Smiths) or Graham Coxon (Blur).
 
Feeling/emotion when playing: SRV, Robert Cray, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, Jimi Hendrix
Technical wizardy: Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Michael Hedges

Not to say these are exclusive, they all are somewhat emotional but I feel like the ones I listed in the emotion category may not be the most technically skilled but when they play the guitar feels like it's bleeding/crying.

I remember reading an interview with Clapton and he claimed Jeff Beck was the best ever.

Hmm, tough call. Top 5 would have to be Page, Clapton, Satriani, Eddie Van Halen, and Martin Taylor (who is not on the poll). I'll go with Page just because LZ is my favorite band...

I always thought Martin Taylor was a sweet name as its both the guitar companies.
 
not that he belongs anywhere on a list with those guys, but i enjoy me some Teppei Teranishi (thrice). probably page, but i also like eric johnson. martin taylor plays a mean acoustic.
