Who is the person that you always listen to?

For me, I have a select group of friends that I talk to about important things.

I know for other people its their family, some its people at church, others it random people on internet forums.


So who do you turn to when you need real, important advice?

I have a few friends that I discuss serious stuff with... there's a handful of them. Only two of them know the "real me". Both of them are ~400 miles away. The others are even more distant.
 
First I listen to the voices in my head, if they are quiet I go on the interweb and fill my brain with more voices.

Dave has really good insight on technical aspects and Mosh has good insight on life.
 
I usually don't ask advice. I know what I have to do, and probably should bounce it off of someone else, but I don't. And for non-moral issues I just ask you guys.
 
For the most part I either take a chance or ask a few good friends that usually give bad advice. And by bad advice, I mean something likely to get me killed but usually worth it on several different levels.

My mom might come the closest.

My friends makes some horrible choices so I'd be in trouble if I always listened to any of them.
 
Honestly, I cannot really think of one person. I will listen to certain members of my family, but their opinions are always going to be skewed to my side because they are most concerned with my well-being and will not give an honest answer.

If I had to choose one person, it would be my step-mom. She has the most honest thoughts, and will "give it to me straight" without sugar-coating anything.
