How is Arod the most complete? Defensively, playing 3rd base, he's average at best.

He's great waving his arms around while running to 1st though....

Okay, sorry, low blow.

lately he's been doing a lot of waving to the fans in the stands as he runs the bases for hitting one out of the park.

Pedro Martinez is the most complete player!

He can pitch, hit homeruns and start riot! 😀

Not to mention kicking the ass of the Elderly!
when he rolled Zim it was one of the ugliest sights in baseball history.

Ichiro, while a great player and excellent leadoff man, does not really hit for power. I would go with ARod, except for his lack of clutch ability (and that's coming from a Yankee fan). It really is a toss up when you talk about players who are this good, i.e. Beltran, Guerrero, Abreu, and the others mentioned here.

another ridiculous claim from a yankee fan.

I would have to say Coco Crisp. Not only can he play baseball, but he also doubles over as a kids cereal. That takes skill.

BRIAN ROBERTS

.364 BA, 8HR, 12 SB, 27RBI, 25RS 1.113 OPS, .444 OBP, .670 SLG

he may not be the most complete player EVER in the game, but right now he is.
He is also an outstanding second baseman

and how are people saying beltran? he has done crap so far this year, def not the most complete player at the moment, and poujols hasnt been overly productive yet either and he is a mediocre baserunner and plays an offensive posistion (1st base is not a defensive spot). And both Arod and the Yanks are slumping horribly do you guys watch baseball or just shout out known names?

I don't think this is an argument over who's the most complete player "right now" as in this week or this year so far. I think the question meant most complete player still active in the game.

If we were to answer it your way, we'd have multiple answers throughout the season.

well id still say roberts is the most complete active player, so far this season. Career wise id probally say Icherio or probally Derek Jeter (and im a Red Sox fan). Jeter has power, speed, defense, leadership, clutch ability, he is the complete package.

Barry Bonds

At one time or another in his career he has finshed the season leading the MLB or the NL in the following categories:

BA
OB%
SLUG%
OPS
RUNS
Total Bases
HR's
RBI
BB
Runs Created
Times on Base

Has 7 MVP's

Has 8 Gold Gloves

Stole at least 30 bases 9 times

You can only argue that its him or A-rod.

Although it should be Griffey Jr. 😛

My vote goes to Pudge Rodriguez... The guy can do anything, and now that he's lost like 35 lbs. he can run much faster... I guarantee his base stealing #'s go up dramatically this year, as well as his slug %.

And to drop another Tiger, while not proven, Brandon Inge is looking like he could be a star of the future... He's hitting awesome, running good, fielding good (2 or 3 or the errors this year were pretty crappy, plus he's used to playing catcher so ya gotta give him a year or so of slack), and is actually a pretty cool guy... Also, ya gotta give him credit for playing lead-off pretty decently when he has no experience doing so in professional baseball. For basically jumping into a role at the MLB level that he has hardly any experience playing, and doing it dramatically well, he is definately one of the most versatile players around today.
