Yoda was acknowledged as "the finest swordsman" by Obi Wan and his master.

Thus Yoda.

Remember, Yoda was like an ooooooollllld man (i.e. several hundred years) when he was fighting in the Star Wars movies and he was still SPRY! (never was really defeated. Make him middle age and would own ALL!
Mace Windu was regarded as a greater bladesman than Yoda.

Mace got killed by Anakin and Yoda got his butt kicked. Obi Wan beat Anakin, that makes him #1

nice logic.
Except that it's wrong. Mace wasn't killed by Anakin.

Anakin + Palpatine
So it took two of the most powerful Sith ever to beat Mace. And it took a betrayal by Anakin to do that.....He and Mace never fought.
Anakin chopped Mace's hand off, and Sidious/Palpatine fried him with Force lightning. Otherwise, Sidious was defeated.

No, Sidious threw the fight to that point so that Anakin would be forced to make a choice. The book explains it in much greater detail. In short, Mace probably would not have been able to beat Sidious if Sidious had been really fighting all-out.

I read the book, and it doesn't really specify that.
The ultimate source, George Lucas, says that Mace defeated Sidious and only Anakin's betrayal saved him.

Dark Helmet FTW!

Don't forget, only Obi Wan, Anakin and Yoda were seen "after death". I didn't see Mace or any other Jedi appear after his death.
Just wait, Lucas will have a new edition with CGI-added Jedis.

I missed that one. Where was the source of that? If it's an interview I missed, I'd definitely like to read it. 🙂

😕 Wow..................... Starwars nerds.............. all of you................

Hmmm.............lotsa ood ways ta' look at this one!!

I dunno.............if I had to give it up to somebody, I've always felt that if the Force *favored* anybody, it certainly had to be Obi Wan. That sucker just kept comin' thru no matter how bad things got.

It's like he was the freakin' McGyver of the Jedi!!!

obi-wan let him win. kenobi would have absolutely schooled old vader with the one spinning saber stroke of death.
"Spinning saber stroke of death"? Did you see those two fighting? They must've both been over a hundred years old, they could barely swing their sabers never mind do any "spinning death moves." 😕

Obi-Wan is the greatest of the Jedi, don't get me wrong, but Vader would've kicked his ass. Anakin lost to him on Mustafar because he was young and cocky, I doubt he'd make that mistake again.

and here i was thinking that anakin lost because he surrendered the high ground
