Superman.

Super Saiyan is sucks. Having wasted hours of my summers watching that crap, I learned that Saiyans and everything in their universe sucks. There's always someone stronger right around the corner. IIRC, the last time I checked in, Goku and Vegeta were getting their Super asses kicked by something else. At least Superman can turn back time...

The problem with this comparison, as is being brought up, is that both things have multiple versions and inconsistencies.

For example.
Pre-crisis Superman could move so fast as to turn back time and had enough strength to move a planet, and didn't need to breathe.
Superboy Prime (alternate version of Superman) was able to rip a whole in the fabric of reality through sheer force, and he was weakened at that point.

Saiyans have tons of inconsistencies though.
In the earlier arc Piccolo comments that Raditz can move faster than light.
When Goku teleports after becoming Super Saiyan he commens he's moving at lightspeed, but the normal movement he has should be faster than that.
Vegeta is powerful enough upon his earliest introduction to destroy a planet. Yet when character at Super Saiyan and higher levels fight all out, they create little more than small craters.
Another example, when entering the martial arts tournament and hitting the punching machine, every major character has to put in a ton of effort to hold back their punches. Superman has been shown to not need to hold back because he is completely in control of every faset of his strength, so it takes no extra effort to hold back.

Also, Superman can go from nothing to full strength instantly. There's no 5 minute long power up for him.

Really, it's apples and oranges. If Superman actually gave a super saiyan time to power up, he could lose. But I don't see that him doing that since before powering up Superman would be able to see that he faced a formidable foe and would have to use full strength.

you realize that powerup nonsence only happened because they were animating the show at the same time the manga was coming out, in reality they powered up near instantly

Superman is physically stronger. I don't get all the people speculating about who would win in a fight - that doesn't necessarily equate to physical strength. Since the OP said strength, I voted for Superman since he has demonstrated the ability to rip the fabric of reality and move planets.

I remember an episode of the Justice League where Superman gets pissed at the rest of the team because they're not as good as he is. He almost tells them to screw off because he's invincible and they're not. So yeah....

I don't know any (mature) adults that watch DBZ. I did when I was younger, but I grew out of it.

another thing to consider, we don't know how well the chi blasts from the dragonball universe work on superman. for all we know it could be like pikachu's electricity against a rock type pokemon or on the otherhand it could be super effective like a thunderbolt hitting a water type.

Well there's been two things that Superman is weak against. Kryptonite, which as he ages his weakness to lessens to the point where he's about as phased by it as I am pollen. And magic is the other one. Now in the DBZ universe they've shown a definite difference between magic and the chi enery. I'd say the DBZ blasts would probably be on power level with that of Darkseid's Omega Beams. They'll hurt Superman, but not kill him. And Superman's full force heat vision can probably equals the force of a Kamehameha wave.

So you watch Superman the cartoons then? If they made DBZ into a movie would it be OK if adults watched it or would that be too immature?

Sorry if I insulted your maturity level you big man you!

To make this battle come to life we should get Tom Welling in a superman costume and put casiotech in a dbz outfit and then have them fight to the death. Whoever survives claims victory, and we win either way.

No, I don't watch the cartoons, or any cartoons anymore for that matter.
I'll watch animation, but not cartoons where they all run around yelling endlessly.
Please don't own me with your heavy with your catlike reflexes!
