Who is responsible for this rebate issue?

On Saturday after Black Friday I picked up a Logitech Quickcam Communication Deluxe for $60 with a mail in rebate making it $10 after wards. So after sending it in I get an e-mail on the 5th of January stating they have received my rebate and then on the 22nd of January I got another e-mail saying I would receive it in 5-10 days. So after 10 days or so I called the Circuit City rebate line and the automated system said it was printed on the 20 something ish, can't recall the exact date and if I don't get it in 30 days to contact them. So I did and was on hold for a long time and then after being on hold forever it just hung up on me, then tried again and was on hold forever. Tried a few days later and now the rebate line is gone.

So yeah no sign of rebate.

Who is suppose to honor this rebate? Circuit City or Logitech? When I bought it they said it was a Manufacturers rebate. So is Logitech responsible for this?

I have a copy of the rebate and receipt and the webcam box.

Doing a google search on circuit city rebate or never received circuit rebate brings up allot of people in my same boat.

Even doing a google search on logitech rebate brings up some interesting results......

What can I do?

I did file a report with the Better Business Bureau on Circuit City, Logitech and Parago (http://bbb.org)

I did write one person at one of my local news stations that deals with customer issues: http://www.king5.com/localnews...r/about_get_jesse.html I will contact my other local news stations and papers as well.

What else can I do? Any other useful sites that can help? How can I band people together who is in the same boat as me? This is wrong, just plan wrong. It's not right and no one should stand for being ripped off. Especially since I got my product when they were in Business and only filed Chapter 11. I as well as others should have gotten our rebates.....

However I think in my case the rebate is in the hands of Logitech as they were offering the rebate.

Parago might be the problem too.

Please help,

Thanks.

Sue them for so much, they have no choice but to go out of business.

That money is gone.

The time you would spend chasing it is more than likely not worth the $60.

If it was $400 perhaps but not $60.

Ha, but even when I call the Logitech rebate line it asks for the rebate tracking number and tells me the same thing as the Circuit City rebate line did. Does Logitech have any real thing to do with the rebate?

no idea, it is possible that it got sent out and lost in the mail or something. its not like they send the checks return receipt required or anything.

Well looking at other people who have the same problem..........Allot of rebates must have got lost in the mail then.....

I mean allot of people have the same exact story as me that bought the Logitech Quickcam Communication Deluxe at Circuit City on there two day sale on Black Friday and Saturday. So i'm not the only one here.

Check some of the results I posted in the OP, there are links of people discussing simular problems as me such as:

Another thing is they said it was a manufacturers rebate so it would have to goto Logitech and if I call the Logitech rebate line and do the automated rebate tracking thing and enter my rebate tracking number it will tell me the same thing as the Circuit City rebate line automated tracking did, when the Circuit City rebate line was active. So who is at fault here? Logitech or Circuit City? I did talk to someone on the Logitech rebate line but he didn't seem to know what I was talking about and just gave me the Circuit City rebate site.....

Go post something on the logitech forums... it seemed to work for some other rebate submitters.

Thanks.

It also might be Parago: http://www.parago.com/Rebates

There normal contact page didn't work so google cache got it: http://209.85.173.132/search?q...gl=us&client=firefox-a

Which they sent me to: http://www.rebateshq.com/promo...ateshq/contact_us.html

to contact them about the rebate.

As the e-mail I got on the 22nd of January saying my rebate would come in 5-10 business days afterwards was sent from: notification@parago.com

Also found some interesting search results on Parago:

Parago rebate search results: http://www.google.com/search?h...e&btnG=Search&aq=f&oq=

and

Parago never sent rebate: http://www.google.com/search?q...icial&client=firefox-a

And that is why I don't do Rebates (aside from cell phones which don't have a choice).

Mail-in Rebates are such a scam it isn't even funny. Another company usually with barely if any connection to the original company where the purchase is made will maybe give you some money back if you are willing to send any and all proof that you bought something to them. And that is only if they feel like it.

It is such a gamble and the whole system feels dishonest and risky. The last big purchase I made that involved rebates (about 3 years ago) took almost 9 months and it was something like 200 dollars that I was waiting on. No one to connect. No way to find out what went wrong. Just blind faith that they are going to send you money.

Luckily we have places like slickdeals (and here, well back in the day anyway) where you can find amazing deals that are not usually tied up with rebates. The computer I am pounding on right now was purchased at an amazing deal with absolutely NO REBATE FORMS!

I have had similar lack of success with mail-in-rebates in the past, so I will not take it into consideration when making a purchase decision.

One of the many reasons I find rebates to be a pointless marketing gimmick and refuse to buy any product based on the rebate price. I've turned in a single rebate in many years of buying, and it was for $380 so it was worth my time. $20 fucking rebates just means you made a bad purchasing decision and wasted a stamp.

all of this over 50 bucks? It's an unfortunate situation, but I don't know that I'd waste this much time alerting the watchdogs of this injustice, just seems like beating a dead horse to me. I can't see news organizations really caring about this...you were screwed out of $50 by a now defunct company, oh the humanity.

I took advantage of that same deal and received my rebate over a month ago. I cashed it promptly.

It was a Circuit City rebate and not a Logitech rebate.

I disagree. Outside of one rebate many many years ago, I've received all of my rebates which have allowed me to score many things for free or for huge discounts that I never could get without the rebate.

A simple solution.
Did you mail it to circuit city or to logitech?

The company is gone, and so is your ca$h. Chalk it up to bad luck and move on.
