Yes.

Libertarians would argue that's the inherent problem with big government. Everyone starts vying for grants of descression, money and contracts, and pay any price for them.

I remember reading an article by Mario Cuomo the ex governor and father of Andrew Cuomo when Mario was a highly sought after Presidential candidate. He refused the overtures of his party for almost two decades because he firmly believed that to get into a position of power you would have to get in bed with the people you should be fighting against. He cited big business and military spending and the need for millions and millions of dollars to wage a campaign. How does one get in that position?

Once in office you have to appease so many different interest groups that whatever your agenda was it would be tainted and diminished before you get something real done. Look at how all the big initiatives of the last 30 years have gone? Look at education. Bipartisans come together to make an abomination called no child left behind. Look at the post 9/11 landscape and the mess that fema and the gestapo of the Department of fatherland-er homeland security has become. Look at how we have taken America's moral ideals and destroyed them with torture, rendition, and secret prisons in other countries...

How have these interests enriched our lives? I cannot fathom where will be if something isnt done about these private-coersive-disengenous-interests run roughshod over our country..

Can we exhume teddy roosevelt and give him a big stick zombie stile and go apeshit on the lobbyists?
