I see a couple folks here run Ubuntu.

I myself run SuSe 9.x and am running Fedora Core, but plan to go to Novell SuSE/Ximian.

How does Ubuntu stack up? I've looked into it and have to admit it does have my interest piqued.

Ubuntu is the new trendy Linux distro. I didn't care for it too much personally but to each their own.

Ubuntu's not bad. I'm mainly a Slackware user, but I've gotten lazy compiling kernels.
Ubuntu is very easy package management-wise.

Ubuntu is well polished but I don't care for gnome so I tried Kubuntu but there was a lot of broken features in it.

Are you one of *those guys* that worships every word that Linus speaketh or do you really not care for Gnome? If the latter, I'm interested in why...

i tried Gentoo after a friend swore by it, but
after experiencing a profoundly negative file system mangling
event, i dropped it.
