During W.W.II fighter and bomber pilots reported "Balls of Light" following them and zipping in and around the formations.

They were never identified, and everyone took to calling them Foo Fighters.

Some believe they were UFO's............

They were actually attributed to an aircraft though last I heard. But it has been a while since i looked into it. Like decades 😛
