Who is leading the Republican party

I know the Conservative/Republican view is a minority in these forums....but I know there are some. I just wanted to see what you guys thought.....with all this ruckus going on in the far-left where are the Republicans in all of this? Who is our voice and leader? Will they ever step up to all the damage we are currently going through in this country?

Someone should have stepped up sometime between 2000-2008.

Palin / Joe the Plumber 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is rush limbaugh not an answer? Every time a GOP leader tries to distance the GOP from Rush, they have to kiss his ring the next day.

The congressional minority and committee leaders.

I wasnt aware that there had to be a single public mouthpiece when it is not election season.

Dont take the bait.....look at the poster first 😉

Romney is probably going to come through as a leader. He's a savvy business dude, and looks like a robot with unmovable hair, like Reagan. The mormon thing holds him back b/c the Rep base is freaked out by it, but except for him putting his dog on his car roof for 10 hour road trips, he didn't weird me out that much and seemed to be a version of a classic republican, as opposed to Mike "we need to make the constitution more in line with god's teachings" Huckabee.

But 2012 is probably lost b/c I don't think any of these folks could beat BO, and with Palin leading the pack, it doesn't seem Reps have felt like they've hit rock bottom just yet.

For 'just' an entertainer, he sure has a lot of power, you have to admit. Why do elected republicans feel the need to kowtow to rush every time they slight him then? You don't need to be an elected official or even be the official head of a political organization to be considered a 'leader' in a political movement.

Really? Who does this? What elected leaders feel the need to have Rush's approval before doing anything? You say this stupid ignorant shit....but have nothing to support it.

Hysterics aside, Rush spoke at CPAC. Steele and other republicans repeatedly refer to him as an important voice in the Rep party. No, he's not the leader, because there is no leader. But you really can't deny his powerful influence.

Huh? At least 3 republicans have apologized to Rush in the past 6 months after saying negative things about him...this isn't new info.

RNC Chairman Michael Steele:

Rush is not the head of the Republican Party. He's an "entertainer" whose show is "incendiary" and "ugly."

Followed by his apology:

"My intent was not to go after Rush - I have enormous respect for Rush Limbaugh..."

"I was maybe a little bit inarticulate... There was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadership."

"I went back at that tape and I realized words that I said weren?t what I was thinking..."

Then you have Congressman Phil Gingrey (R-GA):

"I mean, it?s easy if you?re Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh or even sometimes Newt Gingrich to stand back and throw bricks. You don't have to try to do what's best for your people and your party. "

Followed by his apology:
?I clearly ended up putting my foot in my mouth on some of those comments and I just wanted to tell you, Rush, [...] that I regret those stupid comments.?

Next up, Governor Mark Sanford (R-SC):

"Anybody who wants [President Obama] to fail is an idiot, because it means we're all in trouble..."

His apology:
Sanford?s Communications Director, said that "the governor was not referring to anyone" in particular.

He may be a voice.....but is by no means a leader of the party. Again...I will ask my question.....and please try to think outside your small "Rush is the only answer to this question" minds. What publicly elected official is leading the Republican party?

So apologizing is a form of "Rush....what do I do now.....oh your holyness"? Fuck off.......

You sound like a republican, so you're obviously not bright to begin with, but try reading the posts. In this post above I state rush isn't a leader, but was weighing in on his influence. My first post directly addressed your OP, but you haven't responded to it at all.

Thankfully this is the smugness that swings the pendulum back after 4-8.

I know, it was low. But I did post an on-topic reply first about Romney which he has since and still completely ignored.

I recant the jibe. He's not very bright, but it's probably unrelated to his political leanings.

I don't think that a clear leader for the Republicans has emerged. Cheney? Palin? Steele? Romney? Jeb Bush? McConnell? Sessions/Shelby? Gingrich? I don't think so (yet). So, in lieu of an actual leader, you just have a plethora of voices that you must try and make sense of. So, we look at he loudest voice and/or the voice with the most clout. Unfortunately, this is Limbaugh whether he is an 'entertainer' or not. He is the captain of this sinking ship until someone else really steps up to the plate.

It's like republicans are oblivious to their own stupidity

If rush were so insignificant, why bother apologizing to him? Over something so trivial?

I'm hearing more out of Gingrich these days. Maybe he's trying to be it.
