Who is Going to Watch the Dog?

I want a dog, but who is going to watch over the dog during the day while I'm at work? What do you people do? Just let the dog run wild all over your house during the day?

Get a breed that doesn't require a lot of attention (do your research). Install a doggy door in the back so it can do its business whenever. Don't forget to train it not to bark and to use the doggy door. Get trash cans that have very secure lids. Don't leave the toilet seat/cover up or that may be its water bowl.

Get a cat. He'll be fine when you're gone.

I have a dog door but no longer leave it open while I'm at work. I kept coming home and finding one or both dogs sitting on my front porch after escaping. Didn't happen often but I no longer trust them. I found adult dogs at the shelter that were already house trained and old enough to hold it 8 hours. Makes things a lot easier.

gouge your eyes out so you can get a seeing eye dog. that way you can keep an eye on him because you can bring him to work.
