Playoff pictures are starting to be pieced together, who will it be? Tigers are starting to fall apart, and the A's have not made it past the first round in their past 4 appearances..

Yankees seem to be a favorite so far, but the Twins are blazing hot right now. And while it will be very tough to overcome the Yankees starting rotation, if Johan is as automatic in the playoffs as he has been, in a seven game series he can win games 1, 4, and 7..leaving the Twins with just one more game to have to win if they face the Yankees in the AL final.

That of course assumes they pass up Detroit, which I feel they will, and if it comes down to those two the Twins do have a very good chance at making it to the World Series.

And of course I really just don't want to see the Yankees in the WS again, and worst yet, having another subway series against the Mets, who I believe will beat out the Cardinals in the NL.

ARod is not the kind of person people say he is. When you actually look below the surface, hes about as nice as any other ballplayer, probably even more so.

Yeah when you've been to the dance 39 times you've kind of taken over your distribution of World Series visits.

No one denies what a nice guy he is, just his heart for the game.

A's vs Mets is my very biased opinion.

When I was growing up I lived in Oakland and I would visit my mom in NY over the summers and for holidays (she was a big mets fan).

It is a shame that Clemens didn't sign with a contender, but have to give him points for loyalty.

Probably the best pitcher we will ever see.

if twins had liriano id say theyd be in better shape. if radke comes back sharp and his shoulder doesnt bother him much then i think they may be in better shape in the playoffs.

but for the moment im going for a yankees v. padres match-up. itd be a rematch of the 1998 series minus scott brosius ;) and i also vote the padres because of my hometown allegiance plus i love an underdog.

i think what akshatp was referring to was that baseball is more of a "what have you done for me lately" sport... now that I think about it, what sports arent...

If the Twins had Liriano right now I would put money on them making it to the world series. I still think theyve got a good shot but I hate to say at this point it looks like the Yankees will be back...

Mets for sure from the NL.

The AL, I'm not so sure. The Twinks are TOUGH. But, unless the standing change (and they very well could with 9 games or so left to play) they will be playing the Yankees in the first round. It's hard to think that the Yanks are going to be knocked out in the ALDS. Johan is great but, it's also a short series. Johan will win the first game but, I think that's all the Twins will win.

The Tigers and A's will be the other matchup. I like Tigers pitching, but I also REALLY like A's pitching IF (and we'll see today) Harden is able to bounce back. With a rotation of Zito/Harden/Haren/Loaiza. They're going to be tough to beat. With the Tigers play of late, I think they'll hold off the Twins for the AL Central Crown but they're not getting past the first round.

For the ALCS- My head says Yankees, my heart says the A's. The Yankees have a MUCH better offense. The A's have a MUCH better all-around pitching staff.

So, just for shits and giggles: A's vs. Mets in the WS. If so, looks like this Alaska boy's making a trip to California and New York!
