But.. The Force Awakens and Hunger Games (and surely Ghostbusters will do fine)

I think Ghostbusters will get panned and flop like a mofo. I guess it'll probably make back its costs, cause even shit movies do usually, but I think it'll be considered a failure.

Top 5 things i learned from Independence Day (1996)

1. The only way to defeat the alien ship is to have a pilot fly straight into the energy beam, kamikaze style and kill himself to save everyone else.
2. In the event of the major fireball engulfing the city, you can just duck into a maintenance shaft and you won't get burned, not even a little.
3. To defeat the alien mother ship, use a ship that crash landed 50-years ago, they won't notice is a very old ship and allow you to dock with them without any issue.
4. When a alien ship floats over your city, climb to the roof of a very tall building with a sign that says "welcome home"
5. To defeat aliens with advanced technology, use an Apple Powerbook 5300 to upload a virus.

If this happened in real life people wouldn't run they would pull out their i-phones and take pictures.

6. Secret Service dropped the ball allowing POTUS to fly fighter squadron vs aliens.
7. That view of the Empire State Building cannot be seen from the ground
8. Environmentally conscious nerd smokes?

BTW - Harry Connick imitation of Jesse Jackson was pretty good

ID4 is an average (at best) invasion movie with the one of the most stupid methods of defeating the aliens that only was successful because people gave it a pass for having nice 'splosions.

Maybe on cable if I am too drunk or stoned to change the channel or turn off the t.v.

Define "going to see".

Am I going to the movies to see it? No, movie theaters suck.

Am I going to see it when it becomes available on BluRay? Yes, most definitely

Received free screening tickets to see this movie and it was a huge disappointment. Why it took them 20-years to make a sequel is beyond me. If you like CGI movies with bad acting and predictable results, go see it. The trailer on YouTube pretty much shows all the good parts. Would rate this as a D-.

I hate movies where all of the good stuff is in the trailers. But on the other hand, I do luvs me some good CGI. I guess I'll still go see it.

this movie has no wil smith. that really pisses me off.

Will Smith decided to do Suicide Squad instead, he said he doesn't like sequels, this coming from someone who did Bad Boys 1,2 and now 3 and 4. Not to mention Men in Black 1,2 and 3. Maybe someone can answer this, if an alien ship is attacking a planet and sends out a distress call for help. Does it take 20 freaking years for them to respond. That's like calling AAA for a flat tire and they tell you we will be there in about 6 weeks, so please stand by.

Figured about as much.

well honestly that part makes sense because space is big.

You'd think that after those aliens genocided Earth, they would have tried to fine out where the aliens lived and sent every nuke on Earth over there.

Oh shit, is that a spoiler for a 20 year old movie?

This was a horrible movie.

"Stay behind the yellow line, dad!"

That was the best line in the movie and it was lame...

I will see it if my wifes wants to see it since we normally go see something on July 4th weekend and Ive seen too many transformers movies then so this cant be worse than that.
