That's like saying Wolverine is 6'2" because that was his height in the movie X-Men.
Well Wolverine is actually closer to 5' in the comics.

They're both real. You don't know what you're talking about

I read a comic on this awhile back (over 10 yrs. ago) and I recall Flash winning, which makes sense of course, since that's his only "power."

Lyle Lanley: Now I'm here to answer any questions you children may have about the monorail.
Kid: Can it outrun the flash?
Lyle Lanley: You bet.
Another Kid: Can superman outrun the flash?
Lyle Lanley: Eh, sure, why not.

Superman definitely can't do that.

They had a comic where they did race.

i believe it was either a tie or very close. I can't remember and not diggint through my comic collection to find it.

The Flash would win a race, despite what the comic said. If they fought, Superman would squish The Flash in a heartbeat.

If anyone can give a definitive answer from a comic, that would be awesome.

the flash but one doesnt make sense is if both can move that fast that would mean they would be able to think and move at that rate which would make

1 second seem like a few minutes to them

if that were the case the world would be mind numbingly boring to be able to move that fast

and if they were to switch "modes" that doesn't really makes sense at all

I can't prove to you god is real, but people will debate and evaluate the possibilities.

In this episode, the Flash finds the speed force which was weird but let him kick some serious butt:
The Speed Force is a well established concept in the Flash comic book series. It is mostly referred to as an extradimensional conduit of power that allows the speedsters of this universe to move at speeds approaching the speed of light. However the Speed Force has also been described as a kind of Valhalla for heroes who move at superspeeds. In this episode the Flash taps into the hitherto unknown Speed Force in order to run faster than he has ever run before, but as a result is almost pulled into its afterlife aspect and is required to be rescued by his teammates. All this is consistent with the way the Speed Force is portrayed in the comics.

duh, smallville answered that question last season - the flash! but, he can't fly, he isn't super strong, and he bleeds just like you and me. i'd still rather be superman.

Exactly.

Although superman is generally regarded as a more powerful hero (through simple publicity), he can't catch up to flash in a race like that.

Besides, Lois Lane isn't on the line :p

dude, flash runs through time.
besides which, if its a cloudy day, superman may not be operating at full power. he also doesnt spend all day running at full speed over the globe, so he doesnt have the skill to not crash through things. where the flash can vibrate himself through junk, superman is just a train wreck if he hits any stationary object.
