Who is Ezra and what makes them better than Ezra?

I could never figure that one out. Since I don't know who Ezra is, how am I supposed to decide if the band is better than Ezra?

at a high school battle of the bands, the group performed after a band called ezra. when the host asked what their name was they said they were "better than ezra" and thus they had their name.

seriously.

and jigga, verve pipe and the verve are 2 different bands.
