Thank you Zemmervolt for being one of the few voices of reason in this thread.

Almost everyone I know is voting democrat this election (with a few VERY vocal exceptions) and not a single one of them cares about gun control any more than a republican would. I also can't imagine any scenario where the dems would want to expend political capitol on a non-issue when there are so many more critical and visible things to worry about at present. Like for instance, the WAR and the ECONOMY and HEALTH CARE. I think that BHO will have his priorities in order.

I also can't imagine a single scenario where the democratic majority in congress would commit political suicide by pressing this issue.

Uhh.... the libs are too sly these days and know that they won't be able to TAKE your guns but they can limit sales, manufacture, and distribution of certain weapons and ammo. So your little scenario will likely not happen...not because they wouldn't like to, but because they don't have to...

You didn't answer my question - any renewal of gun bans: Yes, or No?

Quickest way for the Dems to blow it and get their asses thrown out in 2010 is for them to raise taxes on ammo, or try to bring back the AWB in some form. I don't want to see a return to 10-shot pistol clips either (I've gotten used to 15 and 17 since then).

Unfortunately, because I live in the people's republic of NJ, I can't even own a civilian AR-15 or variant because it "looks" like a machine-gun. One day I will move to PA and all my troubles will be over.

Btw, I'm strictly a target shooter and don't hunt. Been shooting since I was 10 and hope to pass this extremely fun sport on to my kids when they're old enough to shoot with my father and I.
