Who is Bon Iver? Who is Paul McCartney?

Never even heard of Bon Iver until I saw him take the stage on Sunday. And what an awkward acceptance speech that was. We had to put it on mute it was so uncomfortable to watch/listen.

That being said, I'm assuming his music appears to the pot smoking, organic food eating, Starbucks drinking hipster crowd?

So hows the pot in Starbucks these days?

I don't mean to nitpick, but if you win a grammy, I think you lose your hipster appeal. You become that band that "I used to like before they got huge. ____ is a way better album than the new one."

i can understand not knowing who Bon Iver is, as hes new and his music is not for everyone

not knowing who Paul is however is just fing sad

I think this is actually his 2nd album. I'm guessing the first wasn't released in the US. That happened with Amy Winehouse (Back to Black was 2nd after Frank). The first I heard of him before the radio played him was when Peter Gabriel covered Bon Iver's "Flume" on the covers album Scratch My Back.

Bon Iver has been getting lots of airplay in the Boston area. I really like it, but the beauty of the music is really subtle.

Here's one positive review of his album. It won't change anyone's opinion about it, but just offering it out there.

The Paul thing is just a joke. Reminds of the old 70s joke, "Oh really? Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings?"

Heard of Bon Iver but never listened to him.

I'd imagine most Bon Iver fans aren't exactly into Skrillex or Minaj either. Skrillex's work is more "music" than music and Minaj is basically famous for her ass and because she had the sense to follow Lil Kim's recipe.

I admit, I must have been living under a rock this past year. Never heard of Bon Iver either. Looked at that first link, everyone mad that Bon Iver won over Skillrex or Nicki Minaj. Never heard of them either! Watched youtube vidoes of all three.
Wow, that's considered best new music nowadays? Think I'll go back under my rock!! I guess out of the three I'd go with Bon Iver. The other 2 I couldn't even make it through one song.

Bon Iver takes a listen or two, but the album is really relaxing, it's both active and passive listening in my opinion.

plays well on my headphone setup. (Denon D5000 + Schiit Asgard/Bifrost)

I wouldn't be able to identify a Nicki Minaj song if it was playing on the radio... I don't even know wtf she looks like.
