Curious as to why you guys think Slash is better, he's nowhere in the same league as morello as for as innovation...

Audioslave and Morello - They're completely different kinds of Guitarists, but Morello is one of my all time fav's so Slash doesn't hold a candle to him IMO

You apparently have never heard Appetite for Destruction :) Not innovative but I'll be damned if that isn't good guitar playing. Back to rock basics.

That doesn't address my question at all except your last sentence. Yes I have heard AFD and it's nothing that hasn't been done before, guitar wise. Listen to anything Morello has done on any of the Rage offerings as far as sonic pyrotechnics and tell me Slash can even hold a candle that. Soloing in and out of the pentatonic scale in the neck pickup position doesn't constitute innovation.

I completely agree with you CorporateRecreation, Morello doesn't stick out as much in Audioslave - but pull out some old RATM and it simply doesn't get any better then that. Slash can't hold a candle to Morello.

But the question isn't necessarily about innovation. It is who is the better guitarist. Slash is better because of what he did with Guns n' Roses, which is a band that blows anything Rage has done out of the water. Especially if we're just considering the guitar aspect, IMO the lyrics/vocals and bass guitar of RATM were the best aspects.. not Morello.
