I think the question has been asked before, and I know a few people have their own hosting services, but who is ATOT using for web hosting? We're looking for a new site host for a hockey fan club we're doing, so I'm curious.
 
I moved from DreamHost last year after their service/uptime became utterly unbearable, even for a site I was paying < $20/year for. I now host that site with HostGator.

http://netfirms.com/max/ is a really good deal - $20/year for 2 free domain names, 250GB diskspace, 2TB transfer/month and all the regular Linux things you get with a hosting account.

I used to do the free netfirms stuff back in the late 90s...man was my site down, a lot...and they even had to post ads on it, haha.

I have heard good things about hostgator.
 
If you are past needing a shared host and are moving up to a VPS or dedicated server check out futurehosting.com

They've got great support and fast servers. All my VPS with them are hosted on 2x Quad Core Xeons with gobs of RAM and SAS-RAID, can't complain 🙂
 
I had a site on Namecheap.com (PHP, MySQL) which runs out this summer. Never had a problem with them.

Right now I'm using ReliableSite.net (ASP.NET 3.5, SQL Server 2005) and have had no problems with them either.

lol... do you know how much 2TB of data transfer costs? If every one of their customers used their full quota, they'd go out of business immediately.

I use mddhosting.com and they are pretty good.

I used the $5/year Cookiehost deal before and didn't like the downtime I was getting.

glad to see they explained how they expected 'overselling'.

Many people will argue that ?overselling? is evil and that it?s the cause of poor hosting service. This is not the case when it?s managed correctly and the proper staffing is in place. When a hosting company hops on the overselling bandwagon, their sales usually increase exponentially. Since very few companies actually have the capacity to handle a major surge in growth, their quality of service is almost guaranteed to deteriorate.

I'm just saying.. That's like someone offering you a free tank of gas everyday for your car but only charging you $50 for it. Their hoping that most people don't even use $50 worth of gas, much less a free tank everyday. If there was a run on their committments, they wouldn't have the resources to continually provide them. 2TB of data transfer from any respectable uplink provider is going to cost more than $20 per month, much less a year.

And, 2TB in transfer will vary in cost from provider to provider.. 😉
