I do not want to give up meat, but the whole Mad Cow holes in the brain thing is scary.

Read "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser (sp?)

it will scare you EVEN MORE

Thats very scary! The other day, I was reading about someone in London who got mad cow disease. It destroyed her brain so bad, she can no longer talk. 🙁

nope.

I don't eat a log of meat, but that's just because I don't really like the taste most of the time. I need to be in a certain kind of mood to appreciate red meat

You don't like the taste of meat logs in your mouth unless you're in the mood?

An indian at work is and I constantly tell him how nice my chicken soup is and things like that. When we're at a restaurant I recommend the meat entrees to him. Funny thing is another indian i work with can't get enough steak! The guy is a meat-fiend!

You know, there are lot of people that eat a diet of mostly vegetables...and they're indegenous peoples. But on the other hand, there are also indegenous peoples who have diets comprised mostly of meat and fish, rarely ever vegetables.

The majority of Americans eat less than forty basic types of foods.

<< Indian, parents used to eat chicked and tuna. I gave it up at ~ 5 years old and now I am 21 and the only vegetarian that I know of outside my family. Hardest part is explaining to girls.

I am. Been a vegetarian all my life. I grew up not eating meat, since I was born. Never touched meat for 54 years, which is my age right now. 😉

I'm impressed - seriously. I am a life-long vegetarian too, but that's not hard to do when your ancestors are known to have been vegetarians for over 500 years 🙂 I have tasted chicken on two occasions and pork once (I'll admit, it was very tasty, especially after a few rounds of rum). Having done that, I feel comfortable saying I will never deliberately eat meat again in my life. I can't help thinking of it as dead flesh. I'd rather put my spices and curry on dead plants 😛

My idea of a great meal is to find a nice onion roll, cut in half, then run to nearest cow. Put one side of the bun on the respective side of the cow, and repeat with other side. Now take a bite!

are you implying that there's something wrong with being a hippie?
