Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity at Auburn. Never joined a social frat...had lots of friends in the social frats though so I reaped the benefits. 🙂

I've heard that Greek life at Auburn is awesome.

I could be pretty entertaining. 🙂 The best thing for me was...I was put on the guest lists of about 4 different frats each weekend for their parties. Plus, because my service frat took care of the mascot (Auburn's Golden Eagle), I couldn't buy drinks on game weekends....it was always free from the drunk alumni tailgating on campus. 🙂

My thoughts on hazing : You have a choice to participate or not. I know that anything that was done to me was done with my permission. If I had not wanted whatever to happen I could have just left. And no, we're not talking nekkidness or barnyard animals before that gets going. 😛
Sure. Then you can be labeled a tool and not be welcome throughout the greek community.

Bah! Fing was already a tool!

But really though, the only hazing that was done to me wasnt really even hazing. Carrying around signature books is considered hazing but there are no detrimental effects from that. I said the whole time that I was pledging, if some fvck gets up in my grill...he gets his ass handed to him. I was never hazed.

yaya!!! i am gonna be working with the APO at my school next year with some philanthropy stuff

Is your campus' chapter of APhiO co-ed? I can't remember which chapters were grandfathered in other than my old one (Delta) and the chapter at Samford.

GAHHHHHH!!! Pika

It was great man! We had this fire engine from the 1930's that we fixed up, it was great for driving around campus and picking up freshmen to bring to rush events. We did get a note from the dean about firing up the siren tho 😉

at my college, it was highly frowned upon by other students to be in a 'frat' or 'sorority'. Everyone basically equated it to paying for friends, especially when you're at a college of only 5000, and there is ZERO greek life but they did it anyway.

Sorry to hear about your college. Mine is one of only 500 students but we have three fraternities and three sororities. I joined ZBT only a few months after the colony was founded on my campus.

Hmmm, I am not sure if there was a DKE at WSU... But remember, chapters vary a lot from city to city / State to State. I was shocked when I went to the national convention...NERDS everywhere.

This is so true and words can't even describe the variances. You just have to experience it for yourself.

I'm ?am/was? a sorority sister. Never thought about it before, but what exactly is your status when a University totally shuts down the Greek system?

which one where oyu in? and at what school? you are still a member i think. the only time you stop being a member is when you deactivate or get kicked out, which never happens anymore

AKO at Alfred. We weren't a national, although we did exist for over 50 years. It just sucks royally that the Univ decided to pull the rung out from under all the greeks as they did.
