Who (in America) dials 10 digits instead of 7 to make a local call?

Michigan is moving to a 10 digit phone system for the 248 area code. What this means is that they are adding a second area code to 248. Now 248 and 947 will both be the same area. When someone fro mthe 248 area code(me) wants to call someone locally, i will have to dial either 248 or 947 -xxx-xxxx. No 1 in front, since they are still considered local calls.

Interesting system, but i fear i will be forgetting by the time it happens, in June.

Ya they just made my county in South Florida switch to 10 digit. I hate it, need to update all my preprogrammed phone dials.

RI is too small to have to deal with that big city crap. But I had to where I used work, near Worcester. Piss me off. Ithaca doesn't have to use 10-digits either, which is good. Heck, on campus, you only have to use 5.

10-digit dialing... sucks in northern NJ. I came back from school one semester to find out I'd forgotten all of my friends numbers since I was reaching a recording. Turns out it was the "You mush-for-brains, enter the area code first!" message.

Moving from a 10 digit area to a 7 digit area was odd. It took me a while to get used to the fact that everyone in/around the city had the same area code.
