I didnt really think this was appropriate for the networking forum but if im wrong mods please move it.

I was browsing newegg's selection of networkable cameras and realized that I really didnt know squat about them. I need 2 to cover outside and 2 for inside. I know the reviews on that site are pretty crappy to say the least but its been slow going searching for reviews.

Anyone use these and if you do, which ones do you have, hows the reliability, hows the software, can they be viewed in real-time remotely?

Thanks ATOT

I saw a mention on Cisco's site that they'll be releasing their entries to market in July. I wonder if it's the same works as what linksys had behind them...

At any rate, the specs are relatively impressive -- if they ran IOS I'd almost be tempted. ;)

I just checked out axis and cisco. Is there a reason the axis cameras cost so much? The cisco ones I couldnt find a distributor for. I think I can get away with 1 outdoor one if it can pan and 2 stationary indoor ones. I really need to keep the whole system under $1900.

i'm actually replacing a crappy setup that was in place before i got here... this place was using some "lukwerks" cams and they kept disappearing from the network... the features are pretty nice, but they're completely unstable.

i've been checking out some of the Axis cams, and Panasonic seems to have a decent solution too. Not sure what i'm going to go with, as i've not worked with IP cams before.
