And is this in addition to the collection plate for Sunday sermons?

Who here Tithes 10% of their income to their church? WHY?
I'll take a stab at it for Dave,
Rich guys who need the deduction and to make themselves feel better than their neighbors.
You don't give away money for the tax deductions. Giving away $100 to save $39 in taxes doesn't make sense.
I do.
And by church I mean bar.
And by tithe I mean purchase alcohol.
... and by 10% I mean 25%...
I do. All good things come from God. We also have a custom of fasting on the first Sunday of the month for one or two meals and donate the cost of the meals we did not eat for Welfare purposes.
What is the priciple of tithing?

Malachi 3:8-11
8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
9 Ye are acursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
10 Bring ye all the atithes into the storehouse, that there may be bmeat in mine house, and cprove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not dopen you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
11 And I will arebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.
What a joke, why the hell are you giving money to a church that builds these things:
