Who here sucked in high school, but was good in college?

I don't know if I sucked in high school, but I'm well known for having failed 6 of my classes my Sophomore year in High School, simply because I didn't care.

I ended up graduating from college with honors.

Is that the whole story, probably not, but considering I was not the best student in HS, I've gone a long way - I'm just about to graduate from law school 🙂

Me, didn't care in HS at all. Didn't even study. Now in college, I'm one of the top electrical engineers in my year (doesn't say much since i go to a private school, but I'm damn proud at how I do in some of my classes). When i look back, my HS had reject teachers. I respect a lot of my professors more so I try to earn their respect by trying my best.

depends on what 'suck' means. if that means <3.0 in HS, and you went to a ****** HS, then you won't get into a decent college anyway.

2.5 in High School
3.5 in Undergrad
4.0 in Grad
I just needed time to mature and develop a work ethic.

Edit: note these are not exact gpa's but demonstrate the progression of my grades.

It's about the same for me-- I didn't work overly hard in high school, and I definitely work a lot harder in college, but the grades are about the same. Although, except for my first semester in which I got a BC in one class, each of my semesters has been better than my cumulative high school gpa.

I put very little effort into HS so my grades were low. I just barely was accepted by the university I applied to. I then earned a BA with Honours (distinction) in my chosen field. It was a matter of priorities. In HS I was more interested in Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll.

mine was about the same, felt i kinda jus blindly bashed my way round GCSE's but came out with great results

for A-level though i was very switched on, A's in physics and electronics...C in maths. i got some of the highest scores our college ever seen for physics and electronics....with a handfull of tests passed with 100%

it didnt make much sense that i was ****** hot at electronics and physics, and then complete ****** at maths. i dont know why i didnt get algebra an the like at the time, but now im at uni doing a masters in mechanical engineering....maths has become one of my best subjects. i scored 68% in maths this year, which is damn nearly a 1st!!!

at this point overall im on a 1st, so hopefully i will finish out the year on a 1st 🙂

I was #10 from the bottom in HS, 2.2 gpa (I failed spanish twice and always got Cs in english) . luckily my SAT scores were decent so I got into state U, I was deans list my last 2 years of under grad 3.549 cumulative gpa.

Then I did grad school (3.651) and now I have a job.

I hated high school because it was one of those small ones (218 in my graduating class) where everyone knew your business and they didn't have much in terms of electives. I also hated how i didn't have any say in which classes i took.

College was great, because my University is huge and I got to select which courses I wanted from a BIG list to fill up graduation requirements. I really felt like I was in charge or my destiny and the people were awsome at my school.

I think it's really up to you if you want to excel at any point of your life.

Normally I hear about great high school students performing poorly in college, because they were pushed by their parents and finally had the chance to do whatever they saw fit in college.

I've seen people who just can't handle school.

I am proof that you can be an overachiever if you feel like it.

I graduated with a 3.6 cum. GPA.

Totally. I was lucky to make it through, mostly because it was so utterly mundane. College was far more interesting, and in grad school I had 4.0
