We still have over 2,500 machines here running Windows 98. We don't have enough $$$ to replace them, or buy XP licenses for them.

I did some work with 98 for my brother last month and I was amazed at how much I had forgotten about it already. :Q

its the family's computer and I havn't gotten around (read : have it setup family fool proof and to lazy to teach them XP) to installing xp. The computer absoluty flys on 98 however. And hardly ever crashes.

At home I have two computers - the gaming computer and the 'other' computer. If either me or my wife wants to play a game, we use the gaming computer - which runs Win XP. If the other person comes in and wants to use a computer - he/she must use the 'other' computer. It runs Win 98 - with a 300 MHz P2 processor and a whopping 64 MB RAM. It'll do internet, Word, Excel, Mathcad, and many games just fine. Of course any game made in the last 2 years will lag on it though.

Try the last 4 years, unless it's an update to solitaire!

Depends on what games your wife plays. Mine enjoys The Sims (with many expansion packs and downloads), Civilization 3, and Sim City 3000 on it. Maybe those are more than 2 years old now, but they definately aren't 4 years old.

XP1800+ o/c'd to XP2400+ (2 GHz). I have a legacy app that requires real DOS, and I like being able to fix a lot of Win problems from the command line with an ASCII text editor.
