Who here still hasn't donated atleast $5 to Japan...

there are a lot of people in this world who need help. did you donate to every one of them?

I made a donation myself but I wouldn't call out those who didn't.

Uh, me? It's Japan, they don't need money. This isn't some 3rd world country that will never recover from such a thing... it's Japan. More specifically, just part of Japan. I'm not trying to downplay it, because it is a tragedy and too many lives were lost, but money won't bring those people pack nor will it really help them rebuild. What's needed is time and patience.

How about, I chose to buy a new Nissan vs. Ford a couple weeks ago and that's how I helped. No? How about the PS3 I bought. Japan has a lot of our money coming in on a constant basis already... is $5 going to make much difference in your Japan cash flow? It may sound selfish but I truly believe my money would be better spent in this country then donated directly. Whatever organization you use will take some of that money for their backend services (non-profit just means break even, it doesn't mean they take nothing). By buying Japanese based products here you're putting money back into the Japanese economy and also helping our own.

besides, how much did you donate to Haiti?

I guaran-fucking-T you that they need more help than Japan, even today.

Japan will recover from this in a few years. It will probably be more than a decade-or never--for Haiti to recover.
