Who here loves Donairs?

I am following the recipe here: Donair Recipe

It is supposed to give a similar result to Halifax style donairs(the best). Instead of 3lbs of beef i am using 4 and upped the ingredients a bit. I have three loaves cooking right now. Anyone ever tried a similar recipe?

For anyone who has not heard of a donair, they are somewhat similar to Gyros.

Donairs are amazing...

Donair = Turkish
Gyro = Greek
Shawarma = Arabic (usually Lebonese)

Ugh...I should go get one for dinner...damn you OP!!

I lived most of my life in Halifax(32 years). Here in Charlottetown, a Donair pales in comparison. Don't damn me, thank me for sharing the goodness

My Aunt and Uncle live in Charlottetown by the way; went down for Canada Day one year...fun times.

Absolutely love them. Also, for some odd reason it seems like the perfect way to end a night of drinking - and is true both here in Canada and in Bulgaria (and as I understand it, in Britain as well).

I had a little discussion about shawarmas with a friend of mine, and we concluded that it is infact superior to sandwiches - you can pack a ton of veggies along with the meat and everything is nice and tidy. I'd certainly take a shawarma over a sub any day...

I know the spelling as "donar", but eh, to-may-to/to-mah-to. Yes, they're absolutely delicious. There's a restaurant nearby that sells a chicken one for $5.99 and it could serve two people. Cheap and healthy. :lips:
