have you read the instruction booklet? With Tingle on the GBA you can have him drop bombs on enemies, discover hidden stuff, buy potions to replenish health/magic and all kinds of other stuff

Is the game play any better with GBA?

I use the connection ocassionaly.

It doesn't make it really better, but it wasn't intended to do so. Its just a good way to get a second person to play along just a bit. Doesn't hurt, but makes things a bit easier.
